Why your 'Carbon Footprint' Is A Lie | Climate Town
There has to be another reason other than racism, a more technical reason.
Driving a car by yourself is much more pleasent than riding the bus or the train with brown people.
Too much parking in the cities? This is the first I'm hearing of it. Good luck finding a spot in San Fran without giving up an arm and a leg.
Absolutely LYING GARBAGE!
6:24 and in modern times with the Bible belt probably also queers
We need all those extra spaces instead of affordable housing because otherwise where would teens do donuts??
The thing is lithium batteries are as awful environmentally as natural gas if not more so But when it comes to short term energy storage like say an energy grid storing and releasing energy from day to day Flywheels are a really effective solution They are basically big spinning discs that store energy in the form of kinetic energy They don’t require dangerous chemicals or rare earth mining to produce And they can easily be scaled up to store a lot of power with minimal losses over short time frames
Thanks for being a source of real facts and making people smarter instead of making them victims.
It’s definitely a kind of grooming
Thanks!
I always like to joke that American parking lots are so big you can land a KC-135 or U-2 on them. That's how big they are.
Yes parking minimums need to go. They take up too much space and everyone can instead opt for public transit and active transport.
He is not screaming anymore. This is alarming.
Electric is just easier to control the population with brownouts and blackouts if you don’t comply. Digital currency is the same thing.
Sea level rise can stop commerce, it could suddenly happen, then we would go back in time. This summer could be the summer it happens.
Here in Mexico everyone uses gas for the stove and to heat the water. And also in medium sized cities we have to call a truck to change load the gas tank, because it isn't piped. I don't know why but anyone uses electric powered stoves or water.
Yes acknowledge the scam especially with that clip of saying if they think it work they wont care, and then say yeah I know but keep doing it any way and hope the government, the reason why this is an issue in the first place, will make more legislation that will hopefully fix the issues, but we all know that it wont. You even proved this by showing the irony of how money is poured into efforts to shut people up just to take the money out when the outrage dies down. You also failed to mention thay how the items that aren't recyclable get shipped to other countries where it get burned or dumped in the ocean. I will continue to throw my plastics in the garbage to go to landfills. But thanks for first minute of the vid that explained the symbol.
I remember the nightmare of living in “high efficiency” high density housing in an urban area. Apartment break ins, car break ins, being run over by a vehicle while commuting by bicycle. This guy is whacked out if he wants to force every living human being into a goddamn pressure cooker bee hive. What a fool.
Wow we sure did transition from coal to natural gas really fast.
at this point im just here to be amused by american politics (not that its much better where im from) that aside i dont think gas is that bad inherently, i think its better than coal which was pretty bad for modern standards but ill watch this video and see what it has to say edit: so i watched it, and learned a lot of thing, very good video (as usual) gas is probably a lot worse than i expected, not to say i ever thought it was great stuff mind you, but still worse than i thought edit2: that being said where i am from we dont really expand natural gas production like america although we do import a ton of it from america, im not sure how well we are doing on the green transition also because im quite a bit out of the loop these days
"This is communist propaganda! Now I'm going to go and suck on my car's tail pipe, like a real 'Merkin!"
replace "car's tail" with "favorite billionaire's" and its pretty accurate
@@harrietjameson Well, that too. The idolization of billionaires, while at the same time being exploited by them, is pretty dumb.
Isn't deliberately lying considered fraud?
Huh. I always wondered why US used gas stoves so much because electric ones just seem so much more practical and less explody. But yea gas company lobbying is a thing
maybe less explodey, but certainly not more practical for cooking.
@@Nubleborskyive had 0 issues cooking on an electric stove and ive never considered having actual fire to be a thing i want unless its a camp fore
My gas powered stove is cheaper and better.
These shorts are on point!
When I was in 12th grade some in my high school (including myself) participated in an innovation contest organised by Audi. The goal was to create a consumerist business idea to supposedly fight against climate change (in fact, that was just Audi greenwashing and promotion of neoliberal ways of (not) fighting against climate change). You know, this "free enterprise will fix all" thing. I'm actually thankful my environmental science teacher proposed that, because it is my participation in that contest what opened my eyes to what greenwashing is, and that spark of curiosity marked the start of a significant ideological change.
Did you hire a consulting company for your walk?
This is also a thing I hate about cities: skylines. Even if you have a “European” map, you always start with low density zoning, without being able to mix zoning on the same tile.
The American concept of suburbia, automobile dependent living is IDIOTOCRACY.
I agree with you that natural gas is bad, however you spent almost 40 minutes talking about that and only 6 seconds talking about the solution at 36:06. Those solutions you talked about are nowhere near ready, but you just glossed over that.
What do you think of gas stoves as clean cooking for rural areas in developping countries?
We should be prioritizing getting electricity to as much of the world as possible. Oil lights, and wood / coal heating are massively inefficient and dangerous. Give those communities solar panels and small-scale wind turbines not gas stoves.
if gas can make it there, so can electricity
As climate town matures, the runtime increases. Better nuance, same high quality script. Is it worth the more limited reach? Science communication is a tough field! Good thing Climate Town is the premier place to go! They roll all their own jokes!
Anyone who thinks a gas stove or oven is not bad for your health has clearly never owned a gas stove and should have no say on the topic.
Owned one my whole life, too much of ANYTHING is bad for your health, using stove as a heater, or having it on all day for whatever reason, maybe..But simply using it for it's intended purpose? Yea I disagree you'll be alright
@@Diablothefightingrooster that reminds me of the time I indulged in too much of my academic curiosity as a teenager.
@@JohnEboyee I agree, way too much of that and not enough lived experience..
@@Diablothefightingroosterbuddy you dont need Life experience for scientific facts. You can disagree all you want its proven evidence that doesnt change. I dont know what it is that people keep thinking they know better when there is clear evidence to the contrary.
@@KeVIn-pm7pu buddy mistakes are fairly common in science, does that matter to you at all or is science religion to you.? I'm not arguing that it doesn't have some negative effect on some people, but it isn't anthrax..Like I said I've owned one my whole life, raised a family of seven on that same stove and none of the statistical health issues were ever an issue.I don't know maybe my parents were also immune to the science that effects everyone else..So does that mean we're special? Not hardly just means that a stove used for it's intended purpose is likely not the sole cause of these health issues..There's underlying consideration for most things in life, that same science data you hold on to so dearly could easily be flipped inside out by conducting the same science test with different factors..It's not all it's made out to be is all I'm saying..We had 12 years left 30 years ago
😂
As a homeless person I would be screwed without my little gas stove. Clean is for rich privileged people.
The US should shut down all of the oil companies, stop selling our gas overseas, and sell gas for cost.
weird watching him this calm.😅 I know the original full video isn't that old
Answer my question I DM’d you on insta?
Nah
similar to inhaling butane byproducts when smoking weed with a lighter
I would cook with coal or wood if I could. Gas is the next best alternative. Electric, only if I have to. When did we start getting afraid of fire? What’s next? Electric barbeque?
You don’t understand much about health do you, assuming you don’t care to even look.
Hell yeah my man these guys don't get it. The manliest thing we can do is take a few years off our lives. And start kids early so they don't get soft.
Ah, the classic slippery slope fallacy. I think I spotted a reductionist fallacy, too 🤦♂️
Yessir live fire is the only way...Of course these kale consumers would disagree, they don't need either for cooking..Hell yeah!! My man let's cook on our electric grills and stoves, cause that'll surely add a couple years to our lifes.
buy a really good extractor fan.
It's better cooking on an induction stove. Cooler in the kitchen; faster heating; cheaper bills; great range of temperature control.
I really wonder if an extractor fan will eliminate or significantly reduce the risks associated with cooking with gas. Kind of seems like telling somebody with a broken leg to just walk it off.
I always had a feeling the "gas stove" movement was super astro-turfy. I'm just fine with electric thank you very much!
Now we're cookin' with gas!
Whoever put your lav on you needs to watch a few videos on proper lav technique lol Source: I'm a professional production sound mixer
It's a bit. Rollie all about that bit.
I’m a former home inspector and as a tribe we don’t have gas stoves in our homes. They’re dangerous.
